1. Trust and Respect

Not all things are measurable by numbers. You may be giving sufficient compensation, but where is the employee employer relationship. You look down to them as just laborers instead of treating them as partners to your company’s growth.

On paper, the initial impression would be – paying people less costs less money. But in the long run, this can be detrimental to your company. Unclear company values, lack of transparency, questionable manager decisions, not providing employees with the tools they need to do their job – these are samples of poor company culture that can drive your good employees away.

There’s no clear-cut formula on how to do this but understanding the need of your organization can do wonders for the company.


4. The value of work life balance

If you’re focus is only about work, there must be something bigger that you need to see. It is called life.

And this perspective should be shared among all the employees. As per Business News Daily, top employers create an environment where employees feel connected to the organization and have a positive work experience that’s part of a rich, fulfilling life.

In other words – at the end of the day, you should respect the fact that your employees have lives outside of work. You don’t want your staff to feel like they have to work 24 hours a day or can’t even take a vacation day when they want. Or a sick leave if they must.

Compassion and understanding can sound mushy in the setting of a work environment but these traits often go a long way to keep employees in your organization.


5. Career growth and development

If employees feel that they will never get promoted or at least be provided with chances to advance the career, the clear option for them is to find another company that can give them these opportunities.
